The Third Annual E Invitational will be played June 15-16, 2018 north of the Hermosa Beach Pier in Hermosa Beach, Calif. Hosted by Olympic beach volleyball gold medalist Eric Fonoimoana, the tournament will be a showcase event that allows the top college players to test themselves against the nation’s best competition and the top high school players to do the same while also getting exposure to college coaches from across the country.

“Beach volleyball is the fastest growing sport for female athletes at the college and high school levels, with approximately 80 colleges fielding teams this year and the NCAA holding its 3rd national championship in 2018,” said Fonoimoana, who alongside Dain Blanton won gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. “I’ve always been a big supporter of helping the sport grow, and I’m very excited about bringing together the best competition in one place to highlight the top beach players during the E Invitational.

“The high school players we’ll see on the court will become the stars of the college game in the coming years, and the college players at our tournament could be representing the United States in the 2020 or 2024 Olympics.”The E Invitational will feature separate fields of 32 college players and 48 high school players. Each player will sign up as an individual. Players in each field will be seeded and divided into pools of four, with each team playing games to 21 win by 2. Each athlete will have an opportunity to play with each of the other three players in her pool. The top two players in each pool, determined by their won-loss record and point differential, will advance to the next round, and play will continue in that fashion until we have one gold medal winner for the college field and the high school field.
Player commitments are expected to be announced soon, and updated information about the tournament will be posted regularly at http://einvitational.com. Fans can connect with the tournament through Facebook (@EInvitational), Instagram (@Einvitational), and Twitter (@einvitational).

The E Invitational is sponsored by Skechers, Kinecta, KIND, Fierce Lotus, Vertra Sunscreen, Oakley Sunglasses, Scott Robinson Honda and Chevron.
